About Our Specialties

In addition to our general practice, our specialized training in the following areas gives us a distinct set of skills in working with the following kinds of problems: PTSD/Trauma and Behavioral Health.

PTSD and Trauma

Our backgrounds working with PTSD and trauma allow us to provide unique services to those affected by traumatic events. Working effectively with trauma reactions requires very specific skills above the normal training. Our specialized experience in evidence-based therapies such as Prolonged Exposure and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of PTSD is distinct from many other therapists. We have years of experience working with people who have lived through traumatic events such as childhood physical, emotional, and sexual abuse; victims of violent crimes, such as physical and sexual assaults; war and combat veterans; law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency responders; mass casualties; and survivors of natural disasters; sudden deaths of loved ones; life threatening medical conditions; and motor vehicle accidents. Services include both assessment and treatments for individuals and families, as well as, consultation to businesses/organizations for critical incident response management. We can help you overcome common reactions to traumatic events including:

  • Intrusive, unwanted memories and/or nightmares
  • Flashbacks
  • Anxiety/fearful and angry feelings
  • Hypervigilance and mistrust
  • Sleep problems
  • Avoiding reminders of traumatic memories such as people, places, or activities
  • Isolation from others
  • Emotional numbness
  • Dissociation
  • Depression and guilt feelings
  • Sexual inhibition or acting out
  • Feeling damaged from traumatic experiences
  • Negative beliefs about self, world, others, and future

In addition to specializing in trauma, we also have unique expertise in working with various behavioral health conditions. Our psychologists have worked in numerous medical facilities and hospitals.
